It is imperative that you make an appointment with your general dentist for placement of a permanent filling within a few weeks after treatment in our office. Failure to obtain a final restoration within a reasonable time period may result in further treatment including retreatment or surgery, or possible loss of the tooth due to fracture.
Your tooth and surrounding gum tissue may be slightly tender for several days as a result of manipulation during treatment. This tenderness is normal and is no cause for alarm. Brush your teeth as usual and avoid chewing on that side until the tenderness is gone. The tooth is protected by a temporary filling and we recommend that you avoid hard/sticky foods which could cause the filling to loosen or the tooth to fracture. You may eat or drink when the numbness wears off.
If pain medication is prescribed, follow the directions and precautions completely. If no prescription is given and you need mild/moderate pain relief, our office can recommend a specific regimen of tylenol/advil. Ask our office staff about the dosage.
The doctors are on call to answer your questions day and night. To reach our on call doctor after hours, phone the office to receive a cell number for the on call doctor. If you need to call after hours, please leave a brief description of your situation, a phone number where you may be reached. Our on call doctor will return your call as soon as possible.
